Break In / Theft

Serial 0571 of 19/02/13 relates to a break to a garage in The Crescent, Horsham.

 

Sometime between 2000 hours on Monday 18^th February and 1030 hours on Tuesday 19^th February a garage at a property in The Crescent, Horsham has been broken into.

 

It would appear the offender/s have gained entry by forcing the garage door and have taken 2 bicycles.

 

The first bicycle is described as an Apollo Entice in mountain blue with a sky blue frame, 21 gears, black rubber pedals and a black saddle.

 

The second bicycle is described as a Carrera Mountain Bike in dark blue, black rubber pedals and a black saddle.

 

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101 quoting 0571 of 19/02/13.

Serial 0574 of 19/02/13 relates to a theft of a gas meter from the Norfolk Arms PH in Crawley Road.

 

It is believed this occurred sometime between 0000 and 0730 hours on Tuesday 19^th February, it would appear that there was no damage caused when it was removed.

 

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101 quoting 0574 of 19/02/13.

Burglaries

Serial 0477 of 09/02/13 relates to a burglary at Bridges Court, Bryce Close, Horsham.

 

Sometime between 1700 hours on Friday 8^th February and 1030 hours on Saturday 9^th February the communal area in Bridges Court, Bryce Close had a greetings card stand stolen. There appeared to be no forced entry.

 

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101 quoting 0477 of 09/02/13.

Serial 1541 of 11/01/13 relates to a burglary at Beech Road, Horsham.

 

Sometime between 0715 hours and 2030 hours on Monday 11^th February a property in Beech Road, Horsham has been broken into.

 

It would appear that the offender/s were able to gain entry by smashing the conservatory door at the rear of the property.

 

£40 cash was stolen; it is not believed that anything else has been taken.

 

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101 quoting 1541 of 11/01/13.

Vehicle crime

Serial 0294 of 26/01/13 relates to a theft from a vehicle in Nelson Road, Horsham.

 

Sometime between 2000 hours on Friday 25^th January and 0700 hours on Saturday 26^th January a car has been broken into in Nelson Road, Horsham.

 

The offender/s were able to gain access via the front side passenger window which had been smashed.

 

Several items were stolen, including; a nail gun, plainer, a drill and a toolbox.

 

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101 quoting 0294 of 26/01/13.

Serial 0340 of 26/01/13 relates to a theft of number plates from a vehicle in West Parade, Horsham.

 

Sometime between 2000 hours on Friday 25^th January and 0800 hours on Saturday 26^th January some number plates were stolen from a vehicle which had been parked in West Parade, Horsham.

 

Nothing else had been stolen.

 

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101 quoting 0340 of 26/01/13.

Attempted Burglary - Gateford Drive, Horsham

Serial 0824 of 24/01/13 relates to an attempted burglary at a property in Gateford Drive, Horsham.

 

Sometime between Thursday 17^th January and 1700 hours on Wednesday 23^rd January there has been an attempt burglary at a property in Gateford Drive, Horsham.

 

It would appear that the offender/s tried to gain entry to the property by attempting to smash the glass on the rear door.

 

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101 quoting 0824 of 24/01/13.

Just to keep you in the loop, I have been sent the link below that appeared on a News Bulletin reference the BBC in Devon. Whilst this is not in Sussex, it could be! Just making you aware of other Bogus callers, be safe.

 

Taddiport residents warned about 'green' bogus callers

Bogus callers are pressurizing people into having their lofts insulated by warning them their council tax could rise unless they agree to the work.

Torridge District Council has issued a warning about the fraudsters, who claim to be working on its behalf in the Taddiport area.

The "Real Green Deal" door knockers have told residents they need to assess their cavity or loft insulation.

The council said that was "categorically" not the case.

"No-one has been asked to inspect local residents' cavity or loft insulation on behalf of the council, and it is not true to say that the council tax is calculated using energy efficiency measures," an authority spokesman said.

Any resident confronted by someone claiming to be from the "Real Green Deal" or any other insulation or energy efficiency company should insist on seeing bona fide credentials, the council said.

Residents reminded to keep houses secure in Horsham and Mid Sussex

With residents going back to work and school this week, Sussex Police is reminding home owners to make sure their houses are secure and not easy targets for burglars.
The evenings are dark and with the festivities over, homes are likely to be empty during the day and early evening while residents are out at work.

Detective Inspector Tanya Jones said: "It is important for residents to make sure their properties look like they have someone at home. We always encourage people to leave lights on or use timers so they come on if they are not at home.

Don't make it easy for burglars to know you are not in. Use security lights which are activated by movement to light up the outside of your property and make sure all your external doors are properly secured with extra locks.

"If you see something which isn't right or people acting suspiciously in your area please call the police and report it. You know what is out of place in your road."

Mid Sussex and Horsham districts have had an increase in burglaries since September. The last break-in was from a house on Paddockhurst Road in Turners Hill on January 8 between 10am and 6.30pm. An untidy search had been
made of the house and electrical items and jewellery had been stolen.

On December 23 a house was broken into on Guildford Road, Horsham between December 15 and December 23. The burglars gained access through a conservatory door and stole a laptop.

On January 5 a property on Riverside in Upper Beeding was broken into and an untidy search was made of the bedrooms and jewellery was taken.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police on 101 quoting Operation Molloy in Horsham or Operation Regatta in Mid Sussex.

A 26-year-old man from Surrey has been arrested on suspicion of burglary with links to 13 burglaries in Mid Sussex between September 18 and October 22. He has been  bailed until February 11 while further enquiries take place.
