Recent burglaries

Dear all,

Please see the below messages from Sergeant Steve Cobbett in relation to recent burglaries in the Roffey/Riverside areas.

Please be vigilant with who is in your area; times of days, what they are doing, are they known locally to residents, if not report their activity as suspicious. We will then try and attend and find the person(s) and or vehicle and discover their reason for them being there. Be aware of your neighbours especially in areas where residents are elderly. If a neighbour goes into Hospital or a care home then please let us know so we can keep an eye on the property and offer crime prevention advice. The same would apply if you know of someone who recently passed away. If we are aware of the property we can try and protect it.

There have also been some issues with drug dealing in the Roffey area and we would encourage residents to do the following:

Please be more aware of what is going on, report suspicious cars, people coming and going to certain addresses especially if they are only stopping for a short while. Vehicles, if the same vehicle drives into a close, meets people and then leaves again and returns shortly later with the same thing happening again and again. Alleyways, if people continuously walk through and meet people in the alleyways then report this activity. We can attend and search the people and vehicles.

A small spate of oil thefts have also occurred across Horsham District and we would also encourage the following:

Residents are requested to be aware of the spate of heating oil thefts and to ensure that their tanks are properly protected and secure.

In general, please report suspicious vehicles in your area and suspicious activity, and warn neighbours accordingly. The police can be contacted to ascertain the reason for the presence of such persons.

No Cold Calling Stickers

Dear all,
Please be aware that we have recently received a large quantity of the 'No Cold Caller' stickers. For those of you who are not aware, these stickers can be put in your door window or a window close by as a preventative measure to deter doorstep sellers from knocking on your door, in particular without an appointment.
The sticker also has some good crime prevention advice on the back, such as what to do before you open the door to a caller.
These stickers are particularly popular and have been really well received in the past.
If  you would like one for yourself or your Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, then please email me on emmalouise.atvarnieks@sussex.pnn.police.uk with details of how many you require and your address/scheme - remember, these don't just have to be for NHW members, there might be someone in your road that may benefit from one aswell.
Kind Regards,
Emma
