Insecure Vehicles

Police are reminding members of public to keep their vehicles secure after several reports of thefts from insecure vehicles over the past week.
The latest incident relates to serial 0423 of 26/09/2012 where a couple returned to their car in Budgens, Billingshurst car park to find that a handbag which had been left on the rear seat of their vehicle had been stolen.
Unfortunately the handbag contained £600 cash, bank cards and some medication.
In this instance the couple had only left their vehicle for a matter of minutes whilst they returned their trolley to the store.
Unfortunately for an opportunistic thief it can only take seconds to steal items, particularly if they are on display. Please make sure you remove any valuables from your vehicle whilst they are unattended and remember to lock your vehicle even if you are leaving it for a short period of time. Let's make it harder for thieves!
