keep your home safe and protect it against burglary.

Dear all,

Happy New Year!

We would like to remind you how you can keep your home safe and protect it against burglary.

1)       Use an automatic time switch either upstairs or in a room which cannot be peered into from the road, remember to change the timing on the switch on a regular basis. You can also use a time switch on a radio.
2)       Fit security lighting.
3)       Make sure all windows and doors are locked before you leave the house, don’t forget to lock your shed as tools can also be used to break in.
4)       Try to trim any overgrown plants - these can give burglars an easy hiding place.
5)       Property mark any valuables with your postcode and your house number/name. You could also photograph any items which aren’t suitable to mark.
6)       If you have an intruder alarm, make sure it is properly working and turned on before you leave the house.

We would also like to remind you and say thank you for the important part that Neighbourhood Watch plays in working alongside the Police.
A recent example of this is a report we received recently from a NHW member regarding some suspicious activity in their area, this led to us being able to apprehend an offender.

If you see anyone or anything suspicious then please call 101 or in an emergency 999.
